Aadhavan Review

Aadhavan is your typical KSRavikumar masala movie, the movie, not even a single minute pretend itself to be serious.aadhavan-stills-0011

*Spoiler**

Story is  very simple,a professional Assassin(Suriya) was assigned to murder a judge who was the head of the commission which deals with the killing of kids  ala Nithari Killings.Aadhavan misses the target once, and he takes himself a challenge that he will murder that judge. Then he enters into the BIGGGGGGGGGG family of Judge(Murali) as a cook and plans for the murder.Who is Suriya is the only twist(but anyhow everyone would’ve guessed it)

*** End of Spoiler*****

Luckily I got ticket on the first day , and seen the movie with heavy crowd, thanks to them I dint hear any dialog for first 15 minutes.Like I said the story has nothing new in it, I wonder why Ramesh Kanna was credited for the story. The movie is completely made with caricature characters like Saroja devi,Nayanthara,Alex,Manobala… and numerous other unknown faces .Huh the movie has nothing new to offer you.

B13 inspired first action scene, and a bigg bigg family with grandma and granddaughter’s cat fight, criminal police !!!!,strict judge, hero carrying bathroom slippers to attract the owner of the house… all cinematic Cliches throughout the movie in the name of commercial Cinema.

But,first half of the movie  stands on 2 pillars, one is Suriya, he is at his charming best ,and the main pillar is Vadivelu he is in stupendous form, every dialog he delivers is responded immediately by the audience.I always have a feeling that Vadivelu has the potential to be a lead in the movie instead he is wasted in tracks in all his movies, where as in this movie he was like a second hero in the first half, and shown his potential again.Nayanthara, Saroja devi,Sathyan,Anadbabu,Shayajishinde,Murali, fefsi vijayan,Reyaz khan.. all are there.. thats it nothing more to them.

In first half songs are your 5 minute breaks, second half songs are ok , but even then,Wont Suriya be bored of doing same kinda songs (suttum vizhi chudare look alike songs.. ) in all his movies, the same for Harris Jeyaraj.it more or less looks like a repetitive and gives you “Heard it and seen it  somewhere ” feeling. The situation in which the songs were placed are utterly silly.

Most importantly the 10 year old character performed by Suriya himself, it was good and its completely believable , nice Graphic, work though it gives some kinda weird feeling, the CG looks convincing for me,but again it really distracts you from getting into the feelings of a 10 year old while you were amused with the way it is made.

Camerawork and editing is slick, though action scenes are well made, I dont know why it is not equally standard as the original, may be the actor himself (David belle) completely performed his stunts in B13 , where as Suriya does some with rope and others are also flying with rope.huh..Either Suriya should learn  Le Parkour(stunt variety) all by himself and should perform it on screen from end to end without any slow motion, or he should better stick to our tamil cinema “Dishoom Dishoom” fights, cos all the hard work he puts in the stunt work is not being appreciated by the editor or cameraman or director to make it look like spine chilling..For the original chase scene from where this stunt was copied please follow the link(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GpOroM0g80)

Okay finally my opinion on this movie, its a complete masala  movie ,with lot of loopholes, not even better than Ayan(1000 times better than anyother Vijay commercial flicks 🙂 )  ,If you are Suriya fan you will enjoy the whole movie or if you are a Vadivelu fan you will enjoy at least first half of the movie.

Peraanmai Tamil movie Review

Peranmai

We have to give a big hand to S.P.Jananathan for picking up a theme which we rarely see in Tamil movies. But did he really made this movie an interesting watch is the big

question.

*****Spoilers********

The story goes like this; India is planning to launch a rocket with Satellite used to develop agriculture in the country. The launch pad is on the mountains of a dense forest near to a NSS camp training where Jeyam Ravi is a forest ranger, who gives training to female NSS cadres. Ravi takes 5 girls into the forest as part of training and they finds out the planned attack on the rocket and with the help of the girls he plans to spoil the enemies’ mission.

************end of spoilers *********

The theme is off beat but the treatment of the theme is spoilt with the songs and ‘the not so pleasing’ girls hostel bathroom jokes at the beginning. For the first 35 minutes almost most of the dialogs where chopped out and filled with music alone. Jananathan wanted to show the lives of tribals and how reservation helped out people like them, and like his other movie “E” this movie is also filled with communism, Karl Marx and Dostoevsky in fact it look like a documentary at some point but I have to admit director’s guts to add these elements into a commercial movie.

Coming to the performance, Jeyam Ravi is the greatest strength to this movie, I’m not much of a fan of him , but in this movie he is the real scorer, each and every inch of the movie he lived like a ranger with a tribal origin(I still wonder how he knows the name and nuances of the modern day weapons at his finger-point) .

Among the 5 girls, girl acted as Kalpana had done her part well, but the twists in the whole movie happens when one of the 5 girls dont listen to Ravi’s words, and put Ravi in trouble the same thing was running through out the movie so it was really boring after some time and viewers started to roar after some point of time.

Music is good.

Cameraman and art director are splendid, especially cameraman was so excellent through out, and never seen a complete movie taken inside a dense forest and the visuals were too good.

Dialogs are also powerful (though most were chopped out 🙂 )

After the dismal graphics in “E” , the graphics in the movie is some what convincing.

Jananthan failed to bring the necessary twists in script, and the girls except for the last 30 minutes they were asking some double meaning questions all over the movie, so we don’t really feel for them and among the five girls I don’t remember 3 faces completely, thanks to their characterization.

When taking a movie with 5 characters of same age, scriptwriter should take extra care to bring the difference in characterization, here he completely missed it out.

My opinion is the movie should’ve started from 30 minutes before the Intermission; at least it would’ve been a complete action movie.

See it on a Saturday evening with 0 expectations you may like it

Hot Fuzz movie review

Hot Fuzz is a Dark comedy movie.I still don’t understand under which genre should I put this movie.Comedy, action, crime, mystery, murder genre may be.

2007_hot_fuzz_wallpaper_002

When you feel this movie is  fkin** hilarious then it switches to blood and gory mode, when you shy away from the screen they come up with some seriously made funny scenes . Well this movie is certainly not for weak hearted, definitely a “No No ” for Kids.

(I personally dont like revealing the stories in review, so if you are looking for review well this one is not for you)

Its a cop story set in a rural England, this genre was  tried less in Hollywood, more like Guy Ritchie’s piece of work, without Jason Stathom.

If you are expecting a kickass movie for the week end after noon go for it, you will  seriously laugh.. I bet..

Unnaipol Oruvan Review

This latest Kamalhassan  movie, remade from the Hindi movie “Wednesday” is an excellent example for screen writing, thanks to the original screen writer Neeraj Pandey .

Unnai pol Oruvan

Unnai pol Oruvan

I really dont want to reveal the story of this movie. All I can tell about this movie is , dialog writers Era.Murugan and Kamalhassan has done a great work in putting the common man’s opinion on present day Terrorism and Politics behind it. There is always a talk that in Kamalhassan movie he will make sure other actors are overshadowed , Kamal has proved it wrong it many times, let that be Madhavan’s role in Anbe Sivam or Pasupathi’s role in Virumaandi. Here once again he proved it wrong by bringing the powerful actor Mohanlal from Malayalam cinema. Watch out for Lal’s magic in the confrontation scene with Lakshmi. Both Kamal and Lal had performed their role stylishly, though Kamal don’t look like our common man he matches that with his acting skill, and dialog delivery.

Keep an ear to each and every dialog and the Wit behind them , and especially the remark on Voter Id.

My verdict on this movie is ” Simply excellent”  , if you haven’t seen the original go for it immediately . ****
